1.MODELS: Must be 1964 or later American manufactured sedan. Minimum wheelbase of 105”. NO Station Wagons or Convertibles
2.SAFETY EQUIPMENT – Rules apply at all times car is on the track. Snell-rated SA2000 or SA2005 helmet required. SFI-approved full fire suit required. Fire retardant neck brace and gloves required. Safety shoes required. Drivers side window net, 16 x 20, ribbon or mesh required and mounted with latch at top of front window. MINIMUM 3” wide 5-point safety belt required mounted securely to the roll cage. NO Y type harness. Kill switch REQUIRED within easy reach of the driver marked clearly OFF and ON. Roll bar padding required on rolls bars around the driver.
3.BODIES GUIDELINES: Steel or aluminum bodies only. All cars may be maximum 50 inches from the center of the wheel to the front of the nosepiece. Hoods and deck lids must have quick pull pins. Hood scoops allowed. Air cleaner must stay under hood scoop with opening in the scoop facing rear of the car only. Roofs must be steel, aluminum, or fiberglass. T-tops and sunroofs must be closed. Rear deck may be flat or may slope downward to rear of car. Max spoiler allowed 6”tall. No spoiler sides. Plastic body skirt ok.
. Must extend frame to frame. Right side may be raised to accommodate exhaust, no higher than driveline tunnel. Drivers may enclose driver’s compartment. All glass, chrome and trim must be removed. Dash to be replaced with sheet metal. Cars may have 7” tall windshield visors. Drivers side windshield area must be covered with minimum 3 windshield bars and with wire mesh with a minimum ¼” opening or maximum of 1” openings. Highly recommend mesh across complete windshield opening. Drivers side Window net mandatory.
4.BUMPERS: All bumpers must be located at approximate stock location. Both front and back bumpers must be strapped to body and chained to frame rails so not to fall on to ground surface if torn off. (No straps, no racing, no exceptions). Tubular bumpers may be under front nosepiece, main tube not to be more than 1 3/4” OD single tube only, no doubling up. Rear bumper to be factory stock aluminum or steel construction. Rear bumper must be mounted no higher than 20” from ground to center of bumper. Front bumper must be mounted 18 ” from ground to center of bumper.
5.NUMBERS: All numbers must be a minimum of 20” tall and 4” wide. All cars must have a number on the roof and left and right side doors. Please use colors that contrast the rest of the car. This will help eliminate scoring problems. 2 digits numbers only. No duplicate numbers allowed. Absolutely no offensive lettering allowed on car.
6.ROLL CAGES: All cages must be made of .095 tubing no less than 1 ½” O.D.
Must have a minimum of four (4) drivers side and (3) passenger side door bars. All radiator protection bars must be behind the bumper and behind the nosepiece. All cages must have a diagonal bar running from top to bottom behind driver’s seat. No galvanized pipe allowed. No threaded pipefittings allowed. All roll cages will be strictly inspected and subject to tech approval. If found unsafe the car will not race. D.V.R. highly suggests 1/8” thick door bar plate on driver side.
7.SEATS AND SEATBELTS: All seats must be padded aluminum racing seats. No seat may be mounted directly to floor pan. Seat must be mounted to roll cage at no less than four (4) points. A five- (5) point safety harness, with quick release is mandatory with a 3” wide lap belt, 3” shoulder belts, and a 2” submarine belt. All belts must be attached to roll cage.
All belts must be kept up to date. Must have date of manufacture and must be within 3 years of present date. This is for your safety.
8.CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION: Frame must be a full OEM frame rail. Tube type upper adjustable A-arms allowed. Control arm that supports coil spring must be stock. Rear clip may be made of 2" x 3" steel tubing. Tubing must extend to the rear bumper. Rear spring mounts must be a minimum of 40" apart measured inside to inside. Cars may tie in frame rails front to rear. Weight jacks are allowed. No weight jacking controls allowed inside of drivers compartment. Racing spring and racing shocks may be used (no coil over or coil over eliminator). Heim end type shocks O.K. NO external reservoir shocks, NO external adjustable shocks (dials, screws etc.). No aluminum body shocks allowed. Rebuilt and re-valve shocks allowed. Maximum four shocks allowed on car. 1 shock per wheel only. Leaf spring sliders are allowed. Rear suspensions may be one of 3. 1) LEAF, 2) Stock style 4 bars or 3) THREE” bar with pan hard bar. Adjustable lowering blocks O.K.
9.REAR ENDS: No quick-change rear ends allowed. Must be steel or cast iron rear end housing. Floaters rear ends with disc brakes are recommended. Coil cars must have four (4) links. Adjustable upper links OK. Stock lowers w/multi-hole locations O.K. NO gold track or ratchet rear ends allowed. No wide fives allowed. No floating spring to housing mounts.
10.STEERING: Steering box must be mounted in stock location. Power steering, quick steer boxes allowed. No racks and pinion steering allowed. Steering wheel must have quick release.
11.BRAKES: Must have three (3) working brakes at all times. Adjustable valves may be used for front to rear brake bias only. Front brake calipers and rotors must be OEM-steel components only. Rear calipers and rotors must be steel. After market OK. No aluminum. Single piston only. Right front rotor may be altered.
12.ENGINES: GM-362 ci max size. FORD-363ci MAX and Chrysler 370ci MAX. GM to GM, FORD to FORD, MOPAR to MOPAR. No dry sump. Cast iron blocks only. No titanium. Any steel rod allowed. No titanium or aluminum rods allowed.
Any cast iron or steel head allowed. Chevy 23-degree +/- 1 degree only. Ford 22-degree +/- 1 degree. NO Roller cams or roller lifters allowed. Any rocker arm is allowed. Wet sump only. Must have a 1” inspection plug installed in side of pan inline with at least one connecting rod. If no inspection plug, driver is responsible for pulling oil pan per techs discretion or D.Q.
No titanium allowed in motors. Engine must be no further back than # 1 spark plug with upper side left ball joint.
13.CARBURETOR: One 850 carb MAX. May change jetting. Two- (2) throttle springs mandatory. May remove choke tower.
14.EXHAUST: No exhaust of any kind allowed in driver’s compartment. All exhaust system must extend past the driver’s seat. Headers allowed.
15.IGNITIONS: No magnetos allowed. All battery-powered ignitions will be allowed.
Ignition boxes must be placed in clear view of tech inspector and out of reach of driver. All boxes subject to tech inspection at all times. No tampering of ignition boxes such as ETC (electronic traction control) or timing control devices. Absolutely no JUNK allowed altering engine performance during race conditions. Only one ignition box per car at any time.
16.STARTERS: All cars will have a working starter in stock location. Kill switch must be labeled and easily accessed by driver or safety workers.
17.CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION: Any clutch will be allowed. Automatic transmissions may use a coupler instead of a torque converter. All transmissions will be OEM production type transmission. Richmond transmission OK.
18.DRIVELINE: No aluminum drivelines. Must be painted white and strapped in two (2) locations.
19.FUEL AND FUEL SYSTEMS: No electric fuel pumps allowed. Must use gasoline only (no alcohol). All cars must have fuel cells with a chain on the cap. Maximum fuel cell size is 22 gallons. All fuel cells will be strapped all the way around (top, sides and bottom) two (2) times. Any fuel line running through the driver’s compartment must be housed in a steel sleeve. Driver’s compartment must be sealed from both engine and fuel cell. All cars require the use of a check valve (roll over valve) on the vent.
20.WHEELS AND TIRES: Maximum rim (wheel) width is 8”. All wheels must be steel.
Bead-locks may be used on all four (4) corners. Hoosier Dirt boss spec tires: P245/60D15 Medium; P255/60D15 Medium; P265/60D15 Medium recommended. Towel Citys OK. No grooving or sipping.
21.WEIGHT: Minimum weight is 3,000 lbs. (pounds). There may be a random check at any time during event. All ballast weight must be painted white and have the car’s number legibly painted on it. All weight must be mounted by a min of two 5/8” bolts or two weight mounts. Any ballast weight dropped on racing surface can result in a disqualification. All mounting is subject to strict inspection.
22. CAR NUMBERS: Numbers must be on both sides of car located on the doors. Must also have a number located on the roof facing the stands. All numbers must be minimum 24 inches in a contrasting color to the body of the car.
23.MISCELLANEOUS: Batteries may be mounted in trunk area or behind the drivers seat in an approved battery box. . Mounting will be strictly inspected. No radios. No rear view mirrors allowed. All cars must be equipped with a minimum 2-lb. (pounds) dry chemical fire extinguisher. Extinguisher must be mounted in driver’s compartment and must be accessible to driver. Must have a quick release mount.
