1.MODELS: All rear wheel drive, front engine, compact cars, station wagons, and short wheel base mini trucks with a conventional cab. No convertibles, super cabs, dual lies, 4-wheel drive or Suv- blazer type vehicles. All vehicles must remain stock for make and model per manufactures specifications except as permitted in these rules. IF IT DOESN’T SAY YOU CAN…. THEN YOU CAN’T! We reserve the right to refuse any vehicle not constructed within the spirit of the rules. No radios are permitted, no horns, and no external lights, dash lights only.
2.ENGINES: Engine must be from the same corporate source as the body and chassis. GM-to-GM, Ford-to-Ford ECT. Maximum of 159 cubic inches, single camshaft, water cooled, maximum of 3 valves and 1 spark plug per cylinder. Engine block may be decked; cylinder may be bored out to, but not to exceed.080 from original manufactures specs. Crankshaft must be stock and maintain stock factory specs. Stroke may not be increased or decreased. Balancing is permitted and after market racing pulleys is permitted. After market rods are o.k. Any piston is ok. Any camshaft is ok except no after market roller rockers, or roller lifters. Any ignition is ok, no mags are allowed. Heads must be of stock manufacture, milling, porting and larger valves allowed, no racing or after market heads allowed. Except as described, all other engine parts must remain to original manufactures specifications as to weight, size, shape and finish. No engine set back or tilting allowed. Engine must be in stock location and solid motor mounts are allowed. Any oil pan is permitted, wind age tray is ok, and no dry sump systems are allowed. Headers are permitted, if in car it must be boxed in.
3.CARBURETORS AND MANIFOLDS: Any 2 barrel carb, no racing Carbs. No predators, No modifications to carb other then jets, off road kits, power valve, accelerator pump and choke assembly removal. Maximum of 1” adapter permitted but must not extend down into manifold. Two throttle springs must be used. No fuel injection, turbo, super chargers or ram air is permitted. Carburetor hats are ok. Any mass-produced aluminum or cast iron intake manifolds ok.
4.COOLING SYSTEMS: One stock type radiator, aluminum or plastic ok, must be mounted in front of engine or inside the body separate from the drivers compartment. No fiberglass flexes fans allowed, electric fans ok. Fan shroud above fan is mandatory. Must have overflow catch can inside engine compartment.
5.ELECTRICAL: One automotive battery only, alternators are ok. Battery must be mounted inside frame rails and securely fastened. If battery is inside driver’s compartment it must be securely mounted behind the driver inside a battery box. All battery mounting subject to tech. Vehicle shall have a clearly marked kill switch easily accessible for the driver and safety crew outside of car. All vehicles shall have a starter. Vehicle must be able to leave staging area on its own, unaided, or start at the rear of the field for that race.
6.CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION: Frames must remain stock from front suspension points to rear suspension points. No cutting, lightening, or altering of any kind except as permitted in these rules. Lower and upper control arms must be in stock location. Ball joints are to be in stock location any bushing material ok. Stock spindles, rotors, and brakes for models use. 3 working brakes at all times. Springs and torsion bars may be altered. Stock locations must be used except for rear leaf spring mounts, which may be moved. Lowering blocks are permitted. Truck differential may be mounted above the leaf springs. “I” beam front suspension may be bent or aftermarket to achieve ride height but must mount in stock location. No coil over and one shock per wheel and must be mounted in stock location. Vehicles with strut front suspension can move top mount to achieve caster and camber settings. Sways bars are optional and from any source or mount ok. Wheelbase must remain stock for that vehicle and must not vary plus or minus ½” at any time. Weights jacks in front ok but must not be adjustable from inside the vehicle. Frames may be clearance for rear housing to achieve ride height. Steering components must be stock with the following modification. Input shaft may be change to use aftermarket u joints, Quick steer ok, quick release mandatory. Must have pad on center of steering wheel. Steering wheel to be located left side of vehicle. No cutting, bending of steering parts including the spindles. Wheels are to be made of quality steel, racing wheels ok, 8” wide maximum. Any tire ok including non-dot racing, the only exception is rally or off road type tire.
7.BODIES: Bodies must be complete. Truck beds may be gutted but must retain quarter panels and tailgate or sheet metal that retains the stock dimensions and appearance. Top of bed must be totally enclosed, flush with the top rails. Fiberglass after market bodies allowed. Spoiler permitted but must not be wider that body. Sheet metal or aluminum side bodies’ ok. Must be full fender and include nosepiece. Hood scoops with rear facing openings ok. Floor pan and firewall must be stock and in stock location and all holes in firewall are to be covered. Dimensions are to remain stock. Bumpers must be as wide as vehicle and have the ends rounded or strapped. Front bumper shall be between 15-19 inches from ground to center rear bumper shall between 18-24 inches from ground to center, no dock bumper or block bumpers allowed, bumper must be secured to frame using chain. Mesh screens and vertical steel reinforcements in front of driver’s side front window mandatory. All glass and interior upholstery must be removed. Gutting of interior sheet metal is permitted. All doors must be welded or bolted up. 4 hoop pins and 2trunk pins required. External accessories must be removed, i.e. door handles, trim, antennas, mirrors etc. Plastic grills must be removed and mesh net used, subject to inspection. Outer fender wells may be trimmed for clearance only; edges must be smoothed or rolled. No mirrors no Exceptions. Rub rails permitted, not to exceed 1 x 2 inches and must be mounted tight against the body with no sharp edges. Trunk may be gutted but must have firewall between fuel cell and driver. Subject to tech approval. Mod mini appearance should be presentable at start of every event. Full cockpit allowed, must have inspection panel where needed. No sunroofs allowed, must be enclosed and sealed. Vehicles must have minimum of 5 inches visor on top of windshield for placement of sponsor decal.
8.FUEL SYSTEMS: Any fuel that will not mix with water, no nitrous oxide or propylene oxide. Fuel cells are mandatory and must mount securely between frame rails. Must be enclosed in minimum of 20 gauge steel box. Cell can be no more than 4” below frame rail. Fuel line may run thru interior but must be enclosed in steel tube. All electric fuel pumps must have cut off switch and excess able buy emergency crew. Must have rear hoop to protect cell. Maximum cell capacity is 16 gallons. Must have roll over valve. Must have fill spout inside trunk or bed and must be sealed off from drivers compartment.
9.REAR END AND TRANSMISSIONS: Any mini truck or compact car transmission ok must remain stock with working forward and reverse gears. No trans adapters allowed. Trans must bolt to bell housing with no alteration. Solid axle rear suspension only. No independent rear suspension allowed. Must be mounted in stock locations, both side-to-side and front to rear. Gears may be locked and gears changed. Stock type flywheels and clutches only. Lightening of flywheel ok. Automatic transmissions must be stock and use stock torque converter. Scatter shield, explosion proof blanket, or 1/16 inch steel place mandatory. Drive shaft must be steel and painted white. 360-degree drive shaft loop required and truck may use on piece drive shaft.
10.ROLL CAGE: No off set cages, four-post roll cage must be used. Front and rear hoop to be welded to OEM frame. Must use .095 inch steel tubing, at least 1.666 inch in diameter for cage and door bars. 3 horizontal door bars on left side and 2 door bars on right side minimum. May have 2 bars for protection in front of radiator but behind the bumper and within the confines of the body and no wider that frame horn. May tie front frame horns together. All bars, front and rear must be inside the body and behind the bumpers. Must have one bar across roof halo. All components must be made from roll cage tubing. No black pipe or galvanized pipe or threaded pipefittings allowed.
11.PERSONAL SAFETY EQUIPEMENT: Full face SA2000 or SA2005 approved helmet REQUIRED. Full fire suit, racing gloves, racing shoes, neck brace, 5-point harness and fire extinguisher (or suppression system) REQUIRED.
12.CAR NUMBERS: Numbers must be on both sides of car located on the doors. Must also have a number located on the roof facing the stands. All numbers must be minimum 24 inches in a contrasting color to the body of the car.
